Event Information

San Diego Mahjong Club hosts beginner-friendly Zung Jung Mahjong, Riichi Mahjong, and MCR events throughout San Diego, along with competitive Zung Jung tournaments.

An MCR instruction class is offered during the first hour of every Sunday event. This class is intended for experienced mahjong players who already know the fundamentals of the game and would like to learn the MCR ruleset. It is not designed for players who are completely new to mahjong, as MCR is the club’s most complex variant.

Zung Jung: Every Wednesday & Friday (beginner friendly)

Riichi & MCR: Every Sunday

Most events have a $5 admission fee. The first Wednesday of each month is free. Members may also earn free admission by volunteering through activities such as teaching, tournament support, equipment transport, and festival outreach.

Seating & Table Options (Zung Jung Only)

Wristband System: Players choose a wristband based on their preferred play experience.

🟦 Blue: Learning and may require assistance/have questions
🟩 Green: Can play independently & open to Learners
🟥 Red: Can play independently & not open to Learners

Automatic Table Upgrade (Optional): Reserve an automatic mahjong table for $40 per table ($10 per seat). Available to Green and Red players.

Registration

To attend an event, join our Meetup group and RSVP. Meetup is the only method used to reserve seats and purchase tickets. Before attending, please review our Community Rules & Guidelines.

Note: Creating a Meetup account is free. Meetup may offer a paid subscription during sign-up, but it is completely optional and not required to attend SDMC events.
